How is the Mustard Seed Project connected to Mustard Seed Village?
Well, it’s more than a crosswalk!
When the Mustard Seed Project began in 2006, it started by surveying older people about what they thought they need to age in place here on the Key Peninsula of western Pierce County, Washington.
One of the things that people thought they needed (along with transportation and help accessing resources) was supportive care for when they could no longer live on their own.
As the Mustard Seed Project grew, and created programs to serve seniors, the dream of providing assisted living was always there, but how to get there was not clear.
In 2014, the Mustard Seed started on a path that ultimately led to the building of the Mustard Seed Village.
The Mustard Seed owns and oversees the Village, but Concepts in Community Living operates the Village using the philosophy of the Green House Project.
All the programs and services of the Mustard Seed Project – classes, transportation, forums, information and referral, and more – are available to residents of Mustard Seed Village as well as to elders living nearby.
